(Nashville, TN 2nd January 2013) Superstar Carrie Underwood reigns atop\u00a0Billboard<\/em>‘s Top Country Albums chart for a fifth consecutive week with her new album,\u00a0Blown Away<\/em>, even as today’s album news closely follows word this week that Carrie has earned her 15th No. 1 single with “Good Girl,” the debut single from Blown Away.<\/em>\u00a0Since achieving her first No. 1 single in 2006 with “Jesus, Take The Wheel” Carrie has spent more weeks in the No. 1 spot on the country airplay charts than any other female artist.<\/p>\n

“Good Girl,” which has sold over 980,000 digital copies so far, was written by Carrie, Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley, who co-wrote two of Underwood’s No. 1 hits, “Don’t Forget to Remember Me” and “All-American Girl.”<\/p>\n

The video for “Good Girl” is currently No. 1 on both CMT and GAC and is nominated both for “Video of the Year” and “Female Video of the Year” at tonight’s CMT Music Awards.<\/p>\n

With five nominations in all, Carrie is the most nominated artist at this year’s show, with additional nods including “Video of the Year” and “Collaborative Video of the Year” (both for “Remind Me” with Brad Paisley), as well as “CMT Performance of the Year” for “Just a Dream\/Dream On” with Steven Tyler, from CMT’s Crossroads.<\/p>\n

Fans can also look for Carrie as a performer on tonight’s show, with the 2012 CMT Music Awards airing LIVE from Nashville at 8pm ET on CMT and CMT.com.<\/p>\n

Carrie is also nominated for “Choice Female Country Artist” at this year’s Teen Choice Awards, airing Sunday, July 22 at 8pm ET on FOX. Fans ages 13-19 can vote once each day per category for their favorite Teen Choice 2012 nominees at\u00a0www.teenchoiceawards.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since releasing\u00a0Some Hearts<\/em>\u00a0in 2005, Carrie has sold more than 14 million albums with\u00a0Some Hearts<\/em>, 2007’s\u00a0Carnival Ride,\u00a0<\/em> and\u00a02009’s\u00a0Play On\u00a0making her the best selling American Idol\u00a0in the U.S.<\/em>\u00a0She’s amassed 15 No. 1 singles, seven of which she co-wrote, and became the first country artist in history and the only\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0winner ever to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from their first two albums.\u00a0Underwood currently leads the nominations for the 2012 CMT Music Awards with five.\u00a0She is a five-time Grammy winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.<\/p>\n
