BBC Radio 2 presents ‘The Fuller Picture’, a series of programmes about Simon Fuller

BBC Radio 2 will present a series of world-exclusive programmes about the entrepreneur and artist manager Simon Fuller, where he chooses his favourite music, and talks about his life in his first ever in-depth broadcast interview.

In the one-off special to be broadcast on Wednesday 1 January at 7pm, Nicki Chapman chats to Simon about his favourite music, plus there are contributions from Annie Lennox, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham, Cathy Dennis, Will Young and David Beckham.

In two further programmes, produced by Malcolm Prince, Nicki Chapman talks to Simon about his life, achievements and ambitions.

Fuller recalls the creation of TV’s most successful entertainment format, Pop Idol; how he guided The Spice Girls to international chart success; and his hopes and plans for the future of music entertainment. Contributors include David and Victoria Beckham, Annie Lennox, Jennifer Lopez, Will Young, American Idol mentor Randy Jackson, host Ryan Seacrest, music executives Lucian Grainge and Chris Blackwell, singer Keith Urban, songwriter Diane Warren and fashion designer Roland Mouret.

Nicki Chapman, who for many years worked closely with Simon Fuller as Creative Director at his company 19 Management Ltd, says: “Simon is one of the most intriguing and powerful characters in the entertainment industry, but most people wouldn’t know who he is. I’ve known him for over 20 years and I’m looking forward to finding out exactly what makes him tick.”

The founder of XIX Entertainment and the creator of the most popular entertainment show in America of the last 10 years (American Idol: source AC Neilsen), Simon is known for his work in discovering and guiding artists that include Annie Lennox, The Spice Girls, Amy Winehouse, Will Young, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. Simon oversees the careers of David Beckham, Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, Tour De France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins and Grand Slam winning tennis champion Andy Murray, as well as being the joint owner of two highly respected fashion businesses with the designers Roland Mouret and Victoria Beckham. In 2012 Simon was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to the global entertainment industries.

Simon Fuller’s Top Ten transmits on Wednesday 1 January at 7pm.

The Fuller Picture – The Simon Fuller Story transmits on Wednesday 8 January and Wednesday 15 January at 10pm.
