LONDON 16 June 2019

It was confirmed today that the Spice Girls’ 13 date UK and Ireland tour 2019 is the highest grossing tour of the year to date in the UK.

The tour, which sold 700k tickets, was promoted by Simon Fuller at XIX Entertainment with Harry Magee and Richard Griffiths at Modest Management. The tour played Dublin, Cardiff, Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Bristol before ending with three sold out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium marking the group’s first performance since the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony.

The Spice Girls show is Wembley Stadium’s highest grossing engagement of 2019 and fourth-highest grossing engagement in the venue’s history. Ticketmaster U.K. confirmed that sales broke records when the tour was announced, with “hundreds of thousands” of places snapped up in minutes. The Spice Girls first debuted on the Billboard charts when “Wannabe” arrived at No. 60 on the Radio Songs chart on Jan. 4, 1997 before peaking at No. 6 and spending four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. They went on to dominate pop culture in the late 90’s and became the most successful girl group of all time.
