David Beckham created history in Paris last night by becoming the first footballer to win four different international leagues, as his club Paris St German celebrated their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years with a 1-0 win in Lyon.

Jeremy Menez’s 53rd minute strike was enough to end the French club’s long wait to reclaim the French crown and to confirm Beckham’s place in the history books.

The final whistle sparked celebrations across France and England, for Beckham and for PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti, who has now masterminded domestic titles in his native Italy, England and France.

Beckham is one of the most celebrated international players of all time. He made his debut for England in 1996 and went on to become the most capped outfield player in England’s national team, reaching a record 115 appearances. Beckham is also the first English player to score in 3 consecutive World Cup Finals and has the joint-second most goal assists in European Championship Finals history.
