Following Mouret’s recent appointment as Creative Director at Robert Clergerie he continues his further exploration in shoe design under his eponymous brand.

Mouret imagined a collection based around the theme of the letter ‘R’, with each style having an architectural trompe l’oeil quality. The signature ‘R’ design is cleverly conveyed through sexy curves and a union of the heel and toe piece. Mouret has created a complete collection of six styles from two block shapes with heel heights of 110mm and 130mm.

The Roland Mouret show shoe collection will be crafted at the Robert Clergerie workshops in Romans, France. Each shoe will consist of signature details including an embossed RM letter star signature on the sole, and a skillfully concealed extended platform designed specifically for comfort as well as a rarely seen seamless heel. Styles include court shoes, t-bars, moccasin style ankle, knee and thigh high boots. All are available in a mixture of fabrics including stretch leather, suede velours, lizard pressed calf leather and block or bi-colour way palettes of black, grey, violet, cream, yellow and green.

Mouret hopes to develop the line into 50 styles over the next 3 years and says of his new collection:

“I wanted to use everything I had learnt in my 13 years catwalk experience to try and create something completely new and relative to my life. An important trait was that each style had to look sexy but have a notion of comfort – to be worn day in and day out. They have an attitude of daytime shoes, a masculine feel but are not too precious. I am extremely humbled to have been called a master of dresses, now one day I aim to become known as a master of shoes.”

The Roland Mouret fashion brand is a joint venture between Roland Mouret and Simon Fuller’s XIX entertainment.  Formed in August 2006 as “RM by the designer Roland Mouret” it followed Mouret’s 8 years of critical acclaim within the global fashion industry. In September 2010 rights to the ‘Roland Mouret” name were acquired by the venture and in March 2011 the first Roland Mouret store was opened at 8 Carlos Place, Mayfair, London, in the form of a “maison” with atelier and HQ on the premises.

Mouret has become recognized for the use of draping and the fitted silhouette, including the iconic dresses Galaxy, Moon, Titanium and Pigalle.  2012  sees the launch of the Roland Mouret shoe and bridal collections as well as the expansion of it’s successful sunglasses line.  Further global expansion is planned for 2013, after three consecutive years of strong double digit growth.
